last sunday i was at sentosa with my bro, my sisters, their bfs and clement, who is bernie kor's bro and is around the same age as me. we had so much fun playing captain's ball on the beach, followed by soccer, then my sisters and i went jogging along the beach for a couple of minutes. we only ran for a very short while because it's so tiring to run on sand! the feeling of sand under my feet brought back so many memories of hcanoe and the 10km run we took part in. i still remember how i lost sight of the rest of them during the sandy part where we were supposed to jog 1 or 2km along the beach. someone bumped into me (as usual) and i fell down so i ran the rest of the marathon alone until some nice stranger ran the last few km with me. i was so touched when i saw wenyi and huiwen and the rest still waiting for me to run the very last lap together. it's a pity i couldn't run the very last lap of the canoeing journey with them. but oh well, i did have my share of fun and joy with them :)
on monday i had tuition with samantha and taught her physics and a little bit of maths. i had such an enjoyable time teaching her because she's so cooperative compared to some other tutee of mine. and she's more like a friend to me, so we always talk alot of rubbish during tuition. but hey, im not a bad tutor okay, we talk useful rubbish that's related to science and maths!
on tuesday i tutored brandon who stays at jurong west. from the past visits to his house, i've come to hate boon lay interchange so much! all the berths are spaced so wide apart and the buses that i take are always at the extreme end of the ring of berths! so everytime i end up having to run like mad whenever i see my bus arriving, and most of the time i'll miss the bus. even if i manage to catch the bus, i'll be all panting and sweating when i reach his house. okay, maybe im just not fit enough. but still. the interchange should be more passenger-friendly! anyway, tuition went fine. i lent him my virtual fighter computer game in exchange for the spongebob game that he lent me. the spongebob game was totally lame and kiddy, but quite entertaining at times because of spongebob's cold jokes and patrick's funny face. till now i have no idea how he ended up lending me computer games. i guess he just wanted to share his love for spongebob with me haha. in the evening i was supposed to go for grace's bbq but didn't in the end because of my aries job! sorry grace :( i took on this part-time job as a sales assistant in aries not long ago and that day they needed me to go because they couldn't find any replacement. for four hours i simply had to stand there and watch customers so that they don't steal anything from the shop. in other words, i felt like i was being a makeshift surveillance camera. apart from this, i was supposed to make sure that all the accessories are in place after customers mess them up. so lame, still must make sure that earrings are spaced apart when there are no customers. i want to be the cashier! using the machine seems fun. maybe next time they'll let me try.
on wednesday i had tuition with effie the hyperactive. needless to say she was still as wild and crazy as ever. and the only thing that could make the situation worse was estee's presence. both sisters bugged me during and after tuition. this time it was an origami-folding session. oh my, how come i always end up doing strange things during tuition.. i was supposed to go for the bridge game at night with yiwen but the aries people called and said they needed my help so i couldn't go for bridge that day. sorry to yiwen too :( but later on they said never mind, and that i didn't need to go for my shift in the end. that means i forsook my poor partner for nothing. sigh.
on thursday i started settling scholarship applications. these are things i hate doing, so i drag and procrastinate until the deadline's just near. and i make sure i don't waste more than a day on them because i am far too lazy to spend too much time on them. only applied for 2 through brightsparks and my favourite moment is clicking submit! then i went to tutor sherly. she's in sec 1 and she told me about her big dream to become a mediacorp actress. she's going (she should have gone by now) for the campus superstar auditions. so cool right, these are the kind of things i'll never even try for in my entire life. on the way home i met chuan yuan on the bus! luckily he didn't bully me much that day.
on friday i tutored samantha again and went through chemical bonding with her. all those terms - isotopes, allotropes.. they seem so far away. and i think i got her confused when i tried explaining the definition of relative atomic mass to her. all that chunk about 1/12th, carbon-12, and the ratio of masses. haha, i explain until i thirsty, she listen until she blur. then i tutored brandon the second time this week and he was so naughty he didn't do my homework! and it was the march holidays so he should have time to finish them! so i threatened to be angry and i think he was scared. shall see whether he does my homework the next time round..
on saturday i met huiying in the morning and played table tennis with her! had a great time catching up with her and listening to how she ends up washing plates as a human resource assistant. she's obviously being bullied by her superiors! other than that, her job involves paper-shredding which she must accomplish by feeding paper one at a time and taking over the receptionist's job during lunchtime. but at least she has a friend who'll have lunch with her, so it's still not too bad. after we had lunch at mos burger, i met twinnie at bpp to get rina's birthday present! we got her the coolest and cutest birthday present :D then we headed to rina's place for her bbq birthday celebration. before we walked over to her condo we actually had to spend quite some time at the bus stop struggling to complete her present. apparently twinnie blames me for it, but it's a nice present! not too good to describe what exactly it is here, because it'll sound stupid, but anyone who receives such a gift will definitely be happy! that is what counts. so we met up with rina, pheywa, mindy, enqi and clara! haven't seen any of them for such a long time and it was nice being with them.
on sunday i watched two movies with zhu xuan the crab! happily n'ever after, followed by the pursuit of happyness. yeah, there is no y in happiness. :) two happy shows. one about fairytales gone all wrong then right eventually, and the other about the power of love and true grit. she gets what she wants, but does she want what she gets? zx has some weird obssession with the italian chefs in happily n'ever after. the woman next to me was sleeping halfway through the movie. her daughter was really entertained by the thought of rapunzel turning bald though. i love the pursuit of happyness! so touching and inspiring. will smith acted so well he can move you to tears. i love his kid in the movie because he cracks jokes that are actually more funny than cold.
today is monday and it's my first day of work at my erjie's lawfirm! im the temporary secretary because the current one will be taking maternity leave soon. she took mc today, so there's no one to teach me what to do and i've been doing nothing much but blogging so far. i can't install msn and chat online because i don't dare to. haha, the 2 lawyers im under may pop by anytime to get me to do stuff. from 9am till now i've only been asked to photocopy a document, scan it, then deliver some legal stuff to someone on another level. i wish my erjie were here so she could have taken me out for lunch. she happens to be having the time of her life now in new zealand. she just bungee-jumped yesterday! i wanna go bungee jumping too. before she went, she showed me the different types of jumps she might try out. got the mountain and valley kind, and urban kind too! i can just imagine her enjoying the entire jump given how adventurous she is. my colleagues are very very nice. they just bought me subway for lunch! and belle, another secretary who sits near me, gave me macs burger and tea when i first reached! the only bad thing (so far) about this job is that i have to be in formal office wear! got laughed at by my entire family when i tried out my sis' clothes. sigh, and the shoes are suffocating my poor toes. i hope my tutees won't laugh at me when i go for tuition in these clothes. maybe they'll respect me even more!
