nice quote right? watched the movie "akeelah and the bee" on vcd with my sis, and this was mentioned in the show. think coach carter quoted it too. anyway i loved the movie! it was adapted from a true story, about a girl's journey to become the top speller in her nation. so basically the show was about spelling bees! it's fascinating how many crazy bombastic words there are in the english language, and it's incredible how their spellings have totally no link with the pronounciation. and as the scenes keep changing and more and more difficult words are thrown at these kids, my sis and i were simply in awe. now we both know how limited our vocabulary is.
and i've managed to pick up this new word from the show: "pulchritude". it's of Latin origin, and it means beauty. simply the most apt word the movie could end with.
a few days back, my bro returned home, telling me that that day was the worst day in his life. i laughed at him, thinking that it was probably some joke he came up with again. and i never expected things to be so serious, and truthfully, even being 3 years older than him, i have never experienced the kind of stress he was subjected to that day. im so glad things are fine now, and im really really very proud of him.
(but this doesn't mean that i will enjoy waking up at 6AM every morning to help him train his maple character just because he bought the double exp thing for the WRONG timing..)
